Friends of Fredriksvern Warft is a society established January 31st 2002. The main purpose is to preserve and beautify Fredriksvern Warft, shipyard and Stavern Fort including the optical telegraph buildings, and to ensure that knowledge about these historically and culturally important structures and buildings is available to all. The society makes sure that the Fort is an arena for cultural activities appropriate for the buildings and the surrounding areas.

As a part of the continued effort to inform, the members give guided tours of the area several times a week during the summer. In addition, one can reserve a guided tour for groups at any time of the year.

The Friends of Fredriksvern Warft runs the Galley Museum, Galeimuseet in Galley shelter 16. The museum is open to the public during the whole summer, and can be opened for groups during the rest of the year.

The Friends of Fredriksvern Warft publish a magazine called «Værftsmagasinet» with articles and photos representative of the long and interesting story of the Fort. Membership is open for anyone.
