The association was established in 1991 with the main ambition to recreate the historic Dynekil battle every year for visitors and members alike. Costumes and equipment should be as authentic as possible, so the general public could learn more about Vice Admiral Sir Peter Wessel Tordenskiolds magnificent achievements.

The first recreation of this historic battle took place in the bay outside Fredriksvern shipyard in Stavern. Enthusiastic amateurs and a few smaller vessels participated. It was early days yet both for costumes and equipment, and it resembled more or less a gang of pirates. It was however, extremely popular with the crowd. The association has kept on improving every detail and presents today a fantastic show for thousands of spectators.
