Svenner Lighthouse was declared protected in 1997 and is today a cultural institution of national value. Gokstad and Fredriksvern costal associations rent the lighthouse from the Costal Department and are responsible for the upkeep and preservation of the buildings.

The beautiful stone house is open for visitors, and one can spend the night.
